Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), popularly known as Deeper Life, is a global holiness movement that began in 1973 as a small Bible study group of 15 people in the residence of Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, then a Mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos. Pastor Kumuyi, a first-class graduate of the University of Ibadan, is revered globally as a “Bible scholar-evangelist” whose ministry is defined by a uncompromising stance on biblical holiness, righteous living, and the “total man” concept—the belief that spiritual salvation must result in social transformation and good citizenship.

Under his leadership, the church has grown into a mega-denomination with over 800,000 members in Nigeria and a presence in over 60 countries. In recent years, through the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), the ministry has evolved into a digitally-driven evangelistic force, while simultaneously scaling its humanitarian interventions in healthcare, prison reform, and education across Africa.

PRISON MINISTRY: NIGERIA’S OLDEST PENTECOSTAL REFORM PROGRAMME

Correctional Reformation Since the 1970s

Deeper Life holds the distinction of running one of Nigeria’s oldest and most consistent prison ministries, active since the 1970s. Predating the founding of most modern Pentecostal assemblies, the DCLM Prison Ministry operates in correctional facilities nationwide.

  • Holistic Reformation: Beyond evangelism, the ministry provides legal aid, vocational training for inmates, and material support including food, hygiene kits, and bedding.
  • Post-Incarceration Support: The church actively manages a reintegration program that assists ex-convicts with accommodation, employment, and family reconciliation, viewing rehabilitation as a long-term spiritual and social commitment.

GCK Medical Missions and Hospital Construction

Deeper Life’s healthcare intervention is a mix of rapid-response rural missions and permanent structural contributions.

  • GCK Medical Missions: Through the Global Crusade with Kumuyi, the ministry deploys teams of volunteer doctors and nurses to provide free surgeries, dental care, and eye treatments in every crusade location.
  • Rural Clinics: The ministry has funded the construction of primary healthcare centers and hospitals, particularly in underserved regions of the Middle Belt and South-West Nigeria, providing life-saving access to thousands who live outside urban centers.
  • COVID-19 Response: In 2020, the ministry donated substantial food palliatives and medical supplies to the Lagos State Government to support vulnerable citizens during the lockdown.

GCK Medical Missions Hits 500,000 Free Consultations Milestone

In early May 2026, the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) secretariat announced that its medical mission arm has successfully provided free consultations and treatments to over 500,000 individuals across Africa since the GCK’s inception. The 2026 “Turning Point” crusade in February added a significant number of surgical successes to this tally.
