Daystar Christian Centre was founded in 1995 in Lagos by Dr Samuel Adesanya Adeyemi, a civil engineer from Odo-Ere in Kogi State who grew up in a quiet, studious, and disciplined Christian home. He trained in engineering at Kwara State Polytechnic but it became clear over time that his calling was elsewhere. He went into ministry, founded Success Power International to teach success principles through seminars, radio, and television, and in 1995 co-founded Daystar Christian Centre with his wife, Nike Adeyemi. Thirty years later, the church has branches across Lagos and a documented record of social contribution that its leadership has explicitly and consistently positioned as the church’s core identity — not an add-on to its ministry.

Senior Pastor Sam Adeyemi has stated unequivocally that “God did not call us to build a large church; He called us to build strong people who reflect His character, competence, and capacity.” That is not rhetoric. It is a policy statement that has shaped how Daystar allocates resources for three decades. The Daystar Leadership Academy, the Skill Acquisition Programme, the Business Academy, the Love at Christmas outreach, and the Real Woman Foundation all exist because the founding conviction of this church is that a church’s measure is the people it produces and the community it transforms — not the size of its auditorium.
Dr Sam Adeyemi went on to earn an MSc in Leadership from the University of Exeter (2011) and a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Regent University, Virginia (2017). He is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and founded Sam Adeyemi GLC — a global leadership consulting firm serving executives, nonprofits, and government leaders across multiple continents. His wife, Dr Nike Adeyemi, holds a Master of Science in Architecture and an MBA, both from Obafemi Awolowo University; attended the Harvard Business School Executive Programme; is a John Maxwell Certified Coach; holds a double doctorate in Divinity and Social Services; and is a recipient of the 2022 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the co-founder of Daystar Christian Centre, Deputy Senior Pastor, founder of the Real Woman Foundation, and founder of the Love Home Orphanage. Between them, this founding couple represents a depth of academic, professional, and pastoral formation that shapes the institutional seriousness of the church’s empowerment work.
At Daystar’s 30th anniversary celebration in November 2025, themed “A Mosaic of Changed Lives,” the church unveiled the next phase of its vision: a major push into digital discipleship, leadership incubation, and expanded global community engagement. The two-day celebration was not primarily a party. It was a policy declaration.

WOMEN AND CHILD WELFARE
Real Woman Foundation — Peace Villa Shelter for Trafficked Women; 25-Plus Years of Operation
The Real Woman Foundation was an inspiration Nike Adeyemi received in 1997 when she encountered women engaged in commercial sex work in the Ikeja and Oregun area of Lagos. She began reaching out to them, initially through food and friendship, before connecting with international anti-trafficking networks at a four-day conference in the United Kingdom. That encounter shaped what the Foundation would become.
The Real Woman Foundation operates the Peace Villa shelter and rehabilitation centre for women, and the Love Home Orphanage. The Peace Villa provides residential shelter, rehabilitation, counselling, and vocational skills training to trafficked and sexually abused women. Several women have gone from the streets to earning college degrees, owning businesses, and resettling in new communities. The Love Home Orphanage is registered with the Lagos State Government and provides residential care, education, and welfare for children without parents or guardians. The Foundation also runs a life skills training centre and The Lord’s Angels outreach to commercial sex workers.
Nike Adeyemi has documented 25 years of bringing hope, love, and transformation to lives through the Real Woman Foundation. Beneficiaries from these programmes are doing well in their new families and communities around the world. The Foundation has also channelled support to internally displaced women in Boko Haram-affected communities in Northern Nigeria through partnerships with verified organisations active in IDP camps.

COMMUNITY WELFARE
Love at Christmas — Annual Food Distribution Across All Five Lagos Worship Centres (December 2025)
Hundreds of individuals and families across Lagos experienced free food distributions through Daystar’s annual Love at Christmas outreach on Sunday, December 21, 2025, across all Daystar worship centres in Lagos — Ikorodu, Ikeja, Lekki, Alimosho, and Badagry. Deputy Senior Pastor Nike Adeyemi stated: “Our message has always been that love must be proactive. Every human being is important to God and to us as a church, and Love at Christmas is one of the ways we live out this conviction.” The outreach is described by the church as an expression of a broader, year-round culture of care rather than a standalone event.
